Who is CeCe?

CECE HOSTS AN ANNUAL CROQUET TOURNAMENT to support women's rights with the need to establish a charity event where women can gather together to network and support one another.

CeCe: Croquet for a Cause was initially discussed over a bowl of pesto pasta and a glass of wine between President Victoria Ullmann and Vice President Lily Baldwin. They were musing about life and the role of women in the entertainment industry and the roles of the many women in their own lives trying to break through a glass ceiling that has budged, but has not yet broken, when they decided they wanted to become part of the solution. They both had experience planning events and wanted to produce an afternoon of networking for women that would be entertaining but would also have a clear message about why guests were there and how it was benefitting them. After a few ideas were thrown around the aha! moment arrived with the idea of a garden party and croquet tournament. Croquet has been a part of the entertainment industry’s history since the early 1900s and a friendly competition always get people animated and engaged. They decided they would partner with a Los Angeles based charity to raise awareness for a cause that fit their goals.

Women in Film seemed like an ideal choice to raise awareness for women in the entertainment sector and once they learned about WIF’s mentorship program they realized this would be a cause that would truly make a difference as women moved up the career ladder. The mentorship program pairs two high level executive mentors with a group of 10 mentees that work together for a year to share their goals, their obstacles, and their successes. They have the opportunity to create life-long relationships and work together and support each other through their career ascent. Web and graphic designer Francesca Fuges and Actor Susan-Kate Heaney joined the CeCe board in early 2014 and together, these four women continue to work with Women in Film to bring awareness of the WIFF mentorship program to many young women in the Los Angeles area. CeCe will continue to work with WIF to grow the event and bring more women on board to join them as they work towards shattering the glass ceiling!
